Waste Motor Oil / Re: Wanting to make an efficient burner
« on: November 04, 2020, 08:11:30 pm »
I too have not run this style burner. What I have seen in this style burner is less and smaller diameter holes in the primary burner. Also I have never seen this large of diameter holes in the secondary burner.

I found this video that may help. https://www.brilliantdiy.com/how-to-diy-make-a-stove-heater-that-basically-burns-all-kinds-of-waste-oil/2/

I use a metering pump with a siphon nozzle. I don't like the idea of a float tank either.

40' x 70' with 16' ceilings is no small building. The wall I see is not insulated. Who knows if the ceiling and other walls are insulated. The heater sets in a corner of the building and don't forget about the 3 overhead doors. Maybe 1600 gallons is about right.

I don't see where using no electric is a problem. There's a lot of drip heater that don't use power.

Are you wanting to build a heater similar to this style?

I don't get any carbon build up in my set up. It does create ash build up. I just vacuum it out.

Waste Motor Oil / Re: Transfer Pumps?

I don't live in a frozen hell hole where I have to worry! :0)

Ouch! It's not that bad here. It still get mighty cold at times. I'm sure the pump will hold up. Just looking for someone that has experience moving waste motor oil at or below freezing temps. Looking to find out what ac motor they're using. I don't want to go overboard on an ac motor. Someone here suggested a lower rpm motor. 2hp sounds a little large. What do I know? Thanks for the help.

Hey Oilburner,  I have watch your videos a lot.
How does your 1/3hp 2800rpm ac motor handle waste motor oil at freezing temps and below?

I see these ss relays mounted on heat sinks. Would I need to use a heat sink or mount it where my old relay had been?

Hey Russ,
The relay is 120vac. It's the relay that operators the 500w heater cartridge in the preheater block that is activated from the PID heater controller.
