Here is a Drawing of my Drip Burner Idea
« on: January 04, 2012, 04:28:40 pm »
I posted a couple of days ago a question regarding the location of the drip tube.  As you may be able to see in the drawing, I am running it striaght down the air intake tube and into the bottom burn pot(Brake Rotor).  Please let me know if this looks like it will work.  Thanks

Hello Teched,

Most of us hanging out here this year are more experienced in the pressure or siphon burner setups.  Hopefully one of the drip system guys will drop by and let you know what they think.

Good luck getting it working!

The drip system me and a buddy built, we had a 2.5" intake pipe in the side of the tank
(about 1.5ft long)  and had the oil run down the pipe then onto another piece of metal which directed into the middle of the pan/fire.

View with the funnel raised up to get a look at the burner.

Close up of pre-heater and control valve.  The copper tube ends at the valve and then I changed it to 3/8" steel tubing inside the  air intake tube thinking it will hold up better in the high heat conditions.  The tube proceeds down the air intake throught the top rotor and into the center of the bottom rotor.  The bottom rotor has had a paice if 1/4" plate cut to fit in the recess coverinf the lug bolt and hub holes.

This shows the burner with the funnel down.  It may be too long.  I figure if it trys to blow smoke up the intake tube then I can always shorten it, but hard to make it longer.  This pict also shows the steel drip tube 1" off the bottom of the burn pot(rotor with steel plate covering holes).

I tested the search at youtube worked fine.  Took me right to my video.  Tried even "WMO Stove" and it was there.  Maybe someone can tell me how to link it to the board?  Thanks

Holly Hot!!! there 89.  You got that sucker cookin'.  I have to finish my door so I can keep it air tight.  I think that is the key to making the MEN idea work.  If all the air it can get comes down the intake the tube then it will flower the flame out around the burner.  If I need to I saw a guy take the fan out of a Microwave and stuffed into the intake tube.

looks to me like they're using compressed air to fire the burner in the pic..

You can't put it on the internet if it isn't true!

Use air to get it up to temp then it will burn off of the oil alone.

To your drip tube question. My stove has the drip tube ending 2" from the end of the air intake tube. This keeps it away from the heat of the flame and in the cooler air stream of the intake. If the tube is allowed to get too hot, the oil can turn to, what's the technical term,... crud ?, and can block the end of the drip tube.
Hope this helps,
