Where to start

Just started looking into making a waste oil heater so I have to start with the basics. Looking to make a heater for a cabin in a remote area off the coast of Newfoundland. The place is only 500 sq feet so I don't want to go too big. I don't use it in the winter so temp. should not go below freezing when I am there. Any advice on best plan to start with? Machining and welding are not a problem so I am not looking for a simple plan but rather the one that works the best without electricity.

Glad you stopped by.  Since you are looking for something that doesnt use electricity, you will probably be looking at a drip type system.  Maybe one made out of an old water heater like the MEN heater?  I dont have any experience with these myself, but others may be able to point you in the right direction.
