Welcome Center / Re: Legality of using a waste oil burner in one's home
« on: February 25, 2012, 03:50:51 pm »
F**K UM, just do it, you have to get a permit for that and the other.... what happens to the money you pay for your permit, do they plant trees to offset the carbon footprint, or help to save the world...... thats the reasoning behind my F**K UM attitude

Babington / Re: Oil pump?
« on: January 19, 2012, 01:59:27 pm »
hi there you dont have enough air in the combustion chamber, although using a babington does put air in the combustion chamber thats really only the first stage of combustionyou need extra air to have complete combustion, id get a gun type oil fired boiler arrangement, take everything off it, leaving only the fan and oil pump(the oil pump will give you a constant flow of oil you require with little if any modification) and use the fan to add extra air in, easypeasy,id be happy to help you if you need any help, but you sound like your 90% there

already tried that, no they dont work they just gring to a halt as the motor isnt powerful enoughto keep it going, although pump would do it.

i use an old hydraulic pump, does it with ease

looks like too much oil is trying to be burnt, on my drip feed system i have an air inlet further up by the start of the chimney/stack so its not sucking too hard from your secondary air souce, unbolt the stack and put washers under the bolts and try that, it would help with the draw and let air in

not really, all you need is the right amount of air and it does the rest on its own, normally when your burning oil and your getting lots of smoke it cause you aint getting enough air into the mix, i use a small hairdryer to blow extra air in, or an old vacuum cleamer on blow, you'll need a dimmer rheostat to control the flow of air

Waste Motor Oil / Re: my heater build starts 1/12/10
« on: December 23, 2010, 04:11:47 am »
ive had it running yesterday in my 6m x 5m workshop, outside was -7 degrees C and inside i was down to a t-shirt, i think its a bit of overkill, so i switched the blower off and then adjusted the oil flow right down and it continued to maintain a nice heat all day, got a bit sooty inside though so i blasted it with some air to get the fire fierce again before shutting it down for the night.
