I think I missed this post in some of my other replies, sorry.  It has always burned hot, too hot times! I still don't have it clean burning in any sense of the word. I think my version is copied from the second MEN, Sanders burners. Two cast iron pans and steel plate stacked up. The addition of the hair dryer helped a lot but I still think it suffers from alack of air. After my last flooding episode my door leaks now. Thinking about adding another layer of rope.

I have a piece of pipe with a curved slashed exhaust tip welded to it that I stick in the intake to stick the hair dryer in. I would suppose my air has all kinds of turbulence by the time it hits the burner.

Isn't it just amazing how those kinds of things happen when the weather cools? Mine was on a quart or so, but it also ran down the side of my heater. Out with the oil dry and scrubbed it around a bit, then swept it up. Then hit the heater and the floor with half a can or so of brake cleaner and then a little more oil dry. Worked pretty good, but hey I'm easy to please lol! Oh it was kind of rough when I lit the heater back to burn it off, but 10 min or so with the bay doors open fixed that.

Oh yeah an electrician! I bet you do know how to have accidental explosions    A friend of mine was digging in a 480v panel once upon a time with a large flat screw driver. Well I'm sure can see where this heading, he shorted out the panel. Bright flash, big bang, and poof half his screw driver vaporized as the lights went out.... Then the fun starts! Poor ole Merv was crying and screeming like a little girl, oh God I'm blind, I'm blind.  The boss calmly lays a hand on shoulder and in a claming voice starts telling Merv everything is going to be ok.  This doesn't help Merv at all he is still spazzing. After a few seconds the boss yells at him to shut up.... we are all blind dips#$@ you killed the lights! Merv still blushes at that story today and the only injury was the poor old srew driver!

I finally elected to go through the wall, just not very fond of roof leaks, repairs, heights in general. But I did engineer a couple of heat shields for the corner it's in with a small house fan mounted on the ceiling above it. Not my best shot but it helped. The shields are about 4'x4' pieces of commercial roofing screwed to a couple of pallets. After I saw the heat they were catching I then stuck a heavy duty fan where it would blow into the corner around the heater, now we're cooking!

As you can see in the attached photo it was 49f outside and a comfy 71f and rising inside.  Don't forget this is an unpainted block building with ZERO insulation. Pleased,,, no doubt, I love it!

It's been a while since I logged in.  I finally got some paint on smokey but still not installed yet.  Now that it's warm I can install it lol!  But I just want to say you guys are some real artists!  After looking back through some of the other posts I almost regret posting pics of junk!  Love the info and again there is some VERY nice work in here!

Sweet man I like it!  And it has the bonus of not "blowing out" us drippers.
