 Not dead Moov just lots of read only posters. I enjoy your posts as I learn from your work ;D.

 I see you use a frige compressor to pump the air, be aware that this type compressor gets its oil from the refrigerant it is ment to be pumping, if its a hermetic compressor it will die a very early life without oil getting added on a regular basis. Try to add an air line oiler to the intake if you can get one.

 The only way to check most small hermetics oil level is to turn them upside down then measure what comes out and put it back in plus what was low.

 I see you have a stock type retention head on there and they dont do well with the heavy slow burning oils,switch to a kagi type head to get a much improved burn. The combustion air needs a lot more swirl to burn with waste type oils.


  And still they need monthly cleaning.

  Yes it is impressive! I to am a bit confused
  It looks to me like a gun system fired into a thick steel plate full of holes that serves as a catalitic converter to ensure complete combustion. Very nice blue flames back there! Well done.

 What fuel is it using?
 Is this a siphon system?

 I never ran a sanders heater so take this for what its worth.  In gun systems waste oil like very little draft, all most positive pressure, less than 1/10th water inch and lots of swirl in the combustion air.

 Hello all, glad to find a forum of waste oil heat builders. I have a half finished siphon gun conversion that I will soon be back to work on.

 I have operated, maintained, and repaired multi-million btu liquid phase heaters (Vapower units) for over a decade so this should slide along nicely. :-\


Parts so far.

1.  Old Wayne gun style burner.
2.  4" Exhaust pipe to extend blast tube
3.  Nozzle heater block
4.  Pid controller
5.  K thermocouple
6.  Kagie retention head
7.  Float tank from old kerosene heater
8.  Combustion chamber build from 1/4" steel plate
