Currently have a large wood burner in my workshop but am considering possibilities of a diy waste oil burning heater. I am hoping to convert my existing stove.

Thanks,

I used to own a boat with a Reflex stove. This used the boat fuel, red diesel, through a control valve to control the flow. It was just what you describe, a drip feed. I used to light it with meths or firelighters.

I thought the same sort of arrangement might be OK with waste oil but thought there might be a knack getting it to burn cleanly.

not really, all you need is the right amount of air and it does the rest on its own, normally when your burning oil and your getting lots of smoke it cause you aint getting enough air into the mix, i use a small hairdryer to blow extra air in, or an old vacuum cleamer on blow, you'll need a dimmer rheostat to control the flow of air
