Hey Andy, nice project.  I see people viewing your post, but no replies.  Have you tried a mixture of oil and diesel?  I'm not much help here as you are a bit further on your project than I am.  Looks good what you are doing.  Keep us updated on your progress.  Thanks for posting!

Hello Andy and welcome to the forum!

Nice pictures.  Looks like you are building a nice setup.  Hopefully some of those with a little more experience than I can answer some of your questions.  I'm not sure how frequently everyone has been visiting the forum, so please be patient and hopefully someone will comment.

My friend is nearly done with my preheater block, so I will hopefully be posting pictures of the finished burner soon.  I will keep you all updated.

Later...

Hello rawhoo.  Welcome to the forum.  Yes, us up here in the north country need heat... lots of heat!  Are you thinking a drip system, or pressure or siphon system with an electrical burner, such as a beckett?  You need to put some of that oil to good use!

Here are some pictures in the early stages.  Still have to replace the fuel line.  This was all I could get when I was in town.  Might deteriorate with contact with oil, I'm not sure.  Thats probably not the permanent mounting place for the filter either, it was just a good place to hang it.  I am building a garage heater that will just be used when I am out there, so I dont need a large holding tank.  5 gallons should keep it going while I am working out there.  My next step will be to get the block made for pre-heating the WMO.  I have been running #1 diesel in it and it warms things up in a hurry.

You are talking about WMO right?

Yea, I have kind of had mine on the back burner too since I got the pump fixed.  I probably wont do a loop system, just take it straight out of the bucket.  The garage is heated with electric and stays at least 40 degrees.  If the pump seems to be working too hard, I might try to warm it up a bit before it gets to the pump, will have to see how it goes.   I rigged up my 5 gallon bucket and have been running it on #1 diesel just to make sure it is going to keep working.  I still have to get my controller and cartridge heater ordered, then I will see if I can get the block built.  I will take some pics of the furnace in my garage and hopefully post them tonight.  Man, that furnace throws off some heat.  Cant wait to start burning free fuel!

Oh yea, Kyles system looks pretty good, glad he got you motivated again!

Excellent, I am going to order one up and give it a try.  I am going to get the one with the built in relay and give it a try.  Probably get a thermocouple from them too.

Getting ready to order my pre heater block temp controller.  I have been looking at the ones here:
http://auberins.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1

From the looks of your pictures Kyle, it looks like you use these?  How do you like them?

I see some have a built in relay, and some with relay control.  I was thinking of the one with the built in relay would work and I wouldn't have to buy a separate relay.  Is there an advantage or disadvantage to either one?  I see that the built in relay is 10A which should be enough to power the cartridge heater.

Size has been upped to 1000k.  If you want to upload them, I can size them down if they are too big if that is alright with you?

Hmm... heater performance option.  Yes!  Everyone needs their heater to perform at its best!

Yes, a photo editor would be one option.  Or talk to the crazy guy that runs this forum and have him up the limit  ;)
Is 500k enough?  If so, try it again.

Hey Kyle, what have you been up to?  Been anxious to see some of those pics you were talking about.  I seen some of them on the other forum and it looks like a pretty nice system.  Maybe a little advanced for me, but it looked interesting.  I also noticed a keystone can in one of the pictures.... ;D

Anyway, hope to see what you have done.

Talk to you later...

The parts have been sold on ebay to a guy who seems to have quite a bit of experience with the drip system.  Thanks for looking.

Howdy Brupp.  Thanks for joining!  It has been pretty quiet out here lately, but there are some members out here with some good information.  As more people join we will hopefully get more discussions going on.  Feel free to ask questions and share what you know.

Glad to have you aboard.

Waste Oil Filtering / Re: Whole house water filter
« on: February 09, 2009, 09:48:46 pm »
Yea, I think I will just run one filter.  Screen it down to 100 micron before it gets into the holding tank.  My mount uses a PH8A filter.  Hopefully it will do the job.  I wonder if there is a longer filter that would fit on that mount?
