Thinking about heat in the sunny southwest?  Good to hear!  When it starts cooling down outside, the forum starts to become active.  I dont have a lot of experience myself, only with the pressure system I am using, but there are lots of other smart people out here with lots of knowledge and experience that can hopefully help you out.  Thanks for stopping by!

Good luck with your build.

No, havent started it yet, but I should get doing that soon.  I should change the filter and that will probably be a little easier to do when it is warm out.  Get the oil sucked through the new filter.

Hope the new heater does the job.

Burn on!

Good to hear it is working out for you.  Do you have some pictures of the burner and your setup you could post?  I would be interested in seeing what you are working with.

Yea, a good source of fuel is definitely needed if you are going to be running the heater a lot!

Later...

No kidding.  Either everyones heater is working good, or they are so busy building that they dont talk?  I'm still using mine.  It was about -10F last night.  65F in the garage!!  ;D

A friend of mine just finished his project.  I'm gonna have to get over there and take some pictures to share with everyone.

Temp Controllers and Thermocouples / Re: help needed with PID controller

Yea, I was kind of overwhelmed when I looked at the book for mine too.  There is all sorts of programming you can do with it, but it worked well out of the box without any programming.  Hooked up the thermocouple and applied power.  I played around with it a little in the house to figure out what was going on.  The temp on the top is the temp of the thermocouple and the bottom is the desired temp.  The arrow buttons change the desired temp up and down.  You can do programming but that wasn't necessary for what I am doing.

Here is the one I am using:

Have you hooked yours up to power to see how it works?  Maybe it is as simple as the one I have?

Should be all setup and ready.

Yea, I wish we could attract more people, but I'm not sure how.  Hopefully as time goes on things will pick up.

Talk to you later...

Commercial Waste Oil Heaters / Re: Lanair model mx 200 won't ignite
« on: January 23, 2010, 04:59:30 pm »
I would think that if the heaters are showing the correct resistance they should be working alright.  I know with my heater if the oil isnt heated hot enough it will be very difficult to light or keep lit.  Is there a temp gauge telling you how hot the heaters are?  If not can you get a hold of a temp gun and see how hot it is?

How is the flow of oil?  Can you remove the burner and run it to see if oil is shooting out like it should be?  I use a plastic bottle on the end of the nozzle to catch the oil and it works good to watch it spray.  If you arent getting good oil flow is something plugged up?  Filters or nozzle? Or bad pump?

Im not familiar with the commercial burners but I would check those things.

Hi Nik,

What specifically are  you having trouble with?  I'm not familiar with your exact controller, but it looks much like mine.  I found the short manual with hook up diagrams for your controller and looked it over.  From the looks of things, you need a SSR for this model.  Are you using this for a pre-heater block?

Thanks for the suggestion Nik.  There is a section for filtering.  Do you think there should be a sub heading below filtering for centrifuges?  Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Siphon Nozzle / Re: where to got a syphon nozzle in the UK???????

Hi Nik,

I know there are some vendors that chatted here on the forums earlier.  Maybe one of them will be able to help you out?  If you need help I could order some and ship them to you.  Not sure how difficult that would be.  I have shipped to Canada before and wasnt too bad.  Not sure about shipping to the UK though.  Let me know if I can be of any help.
