Babington / Re: Oil pump?

its this type of thing http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200323328_200323328 altho my one is a "love you long-time" special made in the peoples republic of bok choy.

i had to seal pretty much every thread on my one with thread tape altho at the price i paid for it i can't really complain.

to silence the exhaust air i ran a piece of garden hose from the exhaust-port down into a 5 gallon oil container filled with water

i ran a babington burner all last winter and used a piston type drum pump that runs on compressed air with an air pressure regulator to control that pump output.

i ran the pump output into a header tank above my burner head to smooth out the surges of oil delivery...my header tank had a overflow that tied into the main oil return to tank

solved all the oil surge problems.

hi i found this place when i was looking for designs of a waste oil burner to rip off and build to heat  hot water to keep my house warm in the winter....(not something that is done in new zealand)

it seems that automatically controlling the heat out put of the burner will be the biggest issue....after i get it lit in the first place lol

still i like the attitude on here....if its oil....BURN IT!!! ;D

Waste Motor Oil / Re: Black deisel
« on: January 15, 2010, 02:55:43 am »
yeah i have tried that.....filtered the oil thru a 1 micron hydraulic filter and wore out a brand new injector pump in 5000 miles(and the injectors as i found out when i replaced the pump and it didn't go as well as it used to)....there was still too much abrasive material in the oil.

the only person i know running waste oil is running clean hydraulic oil that he has drained out of things himself when sorting out issues....his diesel toyota has about 200'000 miles on it running 50/50 waste hydraulic oil/diesel mix....altho i know he does have to bust out the ether-can to get it to start on (freezing) cold mornings
