Title: Need help with a new to me waste oil rig
Post by: m37guy on October 19, 2015, 07:53:12 pm
I'm the new owner of a 1990 fornax waste oil heater for my garage. got her all hooked up and cleaned and ready to fire. She lit for a few seconds then ran out of oil. I found oil dripping from one of the regulators by the preheated. the rubble inner was ripped. I attached some pics. I need to know where i can buy one of these or if there is a better option on the market. Located in Central NH.

Thanks for the help guys

Welcome to the forum. I'd try looking at Granger first. http://www.grainger.com/content/general-catalog
Or at Centralohioheaters. http://www.centralohioheaters.com/All-other-brands.html
Got any more pic of your burner?

So i found out the info on the pressure reg
thats not a issue now...
I get her fired up and then she shuts down in 30ish seconds..
I put in a new CAD sensor but the #'s are not the exact same.
the C554a are the same but the 1463 (old) was different on the new one
I cleaned it 4 times already but she still runs so so then shuts down.
Also i just broke the plug off of the pre heater... will this work as a replacement?

Please help before i out it on Craig's List so someone else can have fun with it

Was your burner trying to fire for 30 seconds or did you have a flame for 30 seconds?

it was running for 30-45 seconds maybe then shuts off...
wait a 45ish then push the red button and she fires up again for 30-45 then shuts off again

I would replace the CAD sensor with the correct part. Sounds like the primary safety is not getting the proper signal from the CAD sensor and shutting the burner off.

I stopped by F W Webb today and those guys are great!
They hooked me up with the right parts i needed and even had a good personality!

I got her running strong for a solid 10 minutes then i shut her down for a few to cool off and then fired her back up again and everything works like it should.

Doug thanks again for the help, like i said i'm new to oil heaters not to mention waste oil ones but i think im good to o now

Your welcome. Maybe down the road you can return the favor to some else with burner problems. In the last five years I've had a lot of help from a lot of people. That's why we're here, it's to help each other. I just don't stop in here as much as I use to. Glad you have your burner running.
